dc.description.abstractThis paper presents the dynamic characteristic analysis of a small sized permanent magnet (PM) type stepping motor with H shape claw-poles using magnetic circuit equation coupled with 3-D finite element analysis (FEA). First, the motor parameter is derived by PM analyzing torque and back-EMF using the 3-D FEA taking account magnetization of PM. Next, the step response characteristic of a PM type motor is calculated by equivalent model. Finally, we present a test method of step response using position sensitive detection (PSD) sensor. Simulation and experiment are performed to prove the effectiveness of proposed analysis and test method. © 2006 IEEE.-
