The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship of school children's obesity level to their obesity stress and sociability in a bid to teach obese children to fit into social setting well without being ostracized. The subjects in this study were 1,036 boy obese children in their fourth, fifth and sixth years of six different elementary schools in the city of Weonju, Gangweon province, who were under the control of teachers. Out of them, a survey was conducted on the obese children through the assistance of the school nurses, and another survey was taken on the other underweight and normal-weight children through the help of their homeroom teachers. The responses from 1,012 boys were selected for analysis, except for 24 incomplete answer sheets. The findings of this study were as follows:First, the children who were more obese were under heavier pressure.Second, their own efforts to manage obesity stress was significantly correlated to their sociability.Third, obesity stress had significant correlation to every sociability variable, and they exercised a significant influence on each other. Specifically, the elementary schoolers who were more stressed out about physical inconvenience were inferior in leadership, and those who put more efforts into alleviating obesity stress were more autonomous, diligent and exerted a better leadership. And the elementary school youngsters who faced heavier mental stress due to obesity were worse at autonomy, leadership, diligence, stability and sociability.-
