- Abstract
- Kim Sang-jean, 2005. The Feministic images shown in the <Chungsally Byukgyesoo> and <10 minutes> - The relations with Sijo and popular song. This studies the feministic images shown in the Sijo of Hwangjinyi and popular song, especially that of <Chungsally Byukgyesoo> and <10 minutes>. Popular song and Sijo are different in many ways, as they were performed in dissimilar periods, and their genre are not alike sijo being considered as a form of literature. In addition, sijo were mainly written to entertain the learned, while popular song is enjoyed by the majority of people. But the two also share similarities, as both display a union of lyrics and music, and they were the most popular form of culture at their time. Thus, popular song and sijo can be linked to one another, making it possible for either side to be accepted as a form of literature or music. The women portrayed in Hwangjinyi's <Chungsally Byukgyesoo> and Leehyori's <10 minutes> show femme fatale, a french word that defines women with beauty great enough to lead men to destruction. These women have complex personalities and their behavior to men can randomly be seductive or indifferent. More over, they are capable of making men fall madly in love with them with out feeling any emotional passion. The two women appearing in <Chungsally Byukgyesoo> and <10 minutes> both seduce a male, only to abandon them when once they have been charmed. This also resembles femme fatale in movies. But the difference is that while the woman appearing in <Chungsally Byukgyesoo> maintains her dignity by comparing the relationships between a man and a woman to nature, the heroine of <10 minutes> uses her sexual attractions as a tool of seduction. But this cannot be defined as a discrimination of value, but rather as the difference of age and culture.
