dc.description.abstract | This paper proposes a hybrid excitation pole changing vernier machine for variable speed operation. The proposed machine uses both permanent magnet excitation and field winding excitation on the rotor. At low speed the machine works in vernier mode and at high speed the machine works in conventional permanent magnet (CPM) mode. The poles of the machine are changed at high speed, which decreases the operating frequency and therefore improves the power factor and efficiency of the machine. | - |
