This paper proposes a dual stator two-phase permanent magnet motor for the only-pull drive technique which provides an effective magnetic flux linkage to improve the performance. The only-pull drive technique provides the benefit of allowing the use of thin magnets in the motor without suffering from irreversible demagnetization. Two different motor designs are presented on the basis of rotor type considering the magnet volume. Each motor contains two airgaps, two stators equipped with the concentrated winding and the rotor sandwiched between the stators. The motors are operated with only-pull process drive technique and the performance characteristics are compared. The validity of machine designs is confirmed using the finite element analysis. The results reveal an indication of the motor best suited with respect to performance criterion for a particular design requirement for only-pull drive technique.-
