Abstract
The recent development in mobile and wireless communication technology has brought about a new paradigm in the automobile industry as well. A ubiquitous environment is being formed where the driver who is in a limited space inside the car can receive practical information in real time from both inside and outside the car. Such an environment offers automobile diagnostic information to the driver, allowing him to inspect the status of the car and also helps him with his driving through real time traffic information. This paper aims to design and implement a telematics system that offers practical services to drivers and allows him to self-diagnose the status of the car in a smartphone environment by using OBD-II. © 2015 International Information Institute.
