- Abstract
- The purpose of this study is to establish the reputation of sports for the disabled desirably and provide basic data, by analyzing the reputation of its images. Object of the study were 185 university students, and open questionnaire was conducted. Contents of the questions includes questions that ask about the images of sports for the disabled, and questions that ask about the personified image of sports for disabled. The results of this study are as follows. First, the images that university students think of in reference to sports for the disabled can be categorized into 450 words. They were primarily classified into 148 words, and then into 18 contents again. These 18 contents that were secondly categorized were again categorized into 5 types. In the first classification, the word that respondents recalled the most was passion, followed by overcoming disability and wheelchair. In the next category were mostly the tendencies of the athletes, followed by society’s positive image about sports for the disabled, and negative image about them. In the 3rd category, images focused on sports appeared the most. Second, among the respondents, most of them perceived the personified image of sports for the disabled as active men in their 20s.
