- Abstract
- The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of 16 weeks of resistance and ankle pump exercise on body composition, health related fitness, and isokinetic function in old-aged women. The participants of this study were forty eight old-aged women. They were divided into combined exercise group(n=14) and control group(n=14). Their body composition, health related fitness and isokinetic function were collected at pre(0 week) and post(16 week). The data were analyzed using two-way ANOVA with repeated measures. Results are as follows. First, body mass, body fat and body fat% were reduced significantly and lean mass was increased significantly after 16 weeks in the combined exercise group. Second, health related fitness was increased significantly after 16 weeks in the combined exercise group. Third, peak torque per body weight of flexion and extension(60°/sec) were increased significantly after 16 weeks in the combined exercise group. Furthermore, peak torque per body weight of flexion and extension(180°/sec) were increased significantly after16 weeks in the combined exercise group. The results of study have suggested that 16 weeks of resistance and ankle pump exercise have positive effects on body composition, health related fitness, isokinetic function in old-aged women and may contribute to improving the quality of life as well as promoting their health.
