Abstract
In fashion, there are many phenomena and internal ethos expressed for the era. That ethos’ roots are believed to be from the history of humans and myths (or legends). Cultural media that are based on myths show memories, traditions, and customs in such forms like art and ritual in the history of mankind. Cultural phenomena from myths are somewhat irrational in a thinking process and also supernatural but are very magical. Also cultural phenomena can be used for relieving stress, and escapism. Often they are impossible to prove scientifically since they are based on myths and imaginations (like a fantasy); therefore they excite people and are usually beloved by people. Even today, they are used in movies and storytelling for joy and entertainment. Today, designs and artistic expressions hold literal cultures or motives from the nature that shows also an artistic spirit. However, It is essential to study and understand myths that hold supernatural and imaginative features; therefore it is possible to pursue changes, differences and novelty in design. The purpose of this study is to find out if those ideas from myths can create interesting and unconventional designs in fashion. Those ideas are believed to be derived from myths’ symbolic categories. The scope of this study includes fantastic and psychological concepts from myths and how they are applied to fashion.
