Abstract
The effect of the chemical composition of the amorphous and crystalline phases of fly ash on the compressive strength of fly ash cement mortar was studied. The fly ash cement mortars were made by replacing 25 wt% of cement with 16 types of fly ashes, and the specimen's compressive strengths were evaluated. The compressive strength increased with the mortar's age due to differences in pozzolanic reactivity. The effects of various chemical parameters of the fly ash were analyzed. The pozzolanic reaction of fly ash was significantly affected by SiO2, Al2O3, and Fe2O3 components, which form the framework of the glass phase, and CaO, MgO, Na2O, and K2O components, which depolymerize the glass structure.
