Abstract
Information centric networking (ICN), a promising technology for future Internet, pursuits flexible and scalable network use for ubiquitous contents in network caches by content name based networking instead of conventional connection oriented networking. Although the ICN has been investigated in terms of feasibility in wired networks, a wireless cellular network like LTE-advance (LTE-A) as one of root technologies for 5G wireless communications, has still several challenges to overcome such as mobility, service disruption and radio resource wastes for the ICN. In this paper, we overview ICN technologies and propose a way for migration of the LTE-A toward the ICN discussing the challenges with solutions. (C) 2016 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
