- Abstract
- This study is to apply the concept of the cityscape to the architectural design in term of the city identity. For this purpose, this study proposes the architectural design plans which applicable to the New York Public Library extension at the Bryant Park in New York City. In order to propose the architectural design plans, this study investigated the relationship between street system and buildings for ensuring the nature of the cityscape of New York City. The nature of the cityscape of New York is the unique streetscape of the concept of the urban corridor created by the consecutive buildings based on the grid-like lattice system. The proposal of this study could bring positive solutions to comply with the structural order of the grid-like lattice street system of New York City, to meet the functional requirements of the Bryant Park as a library park, to strengthen the identity of New York City. © 2017 International Information Institute.
