- Abstract
- This study aimed to investigate the predictive relationship of university students’ attitude, subjective norm, perceived behavioral control, and four different types of self-regulated motivations to intention to exercise. Participants(N=203; 137 male, 66 female) completed self-reported questionnaires assessing their psychological measures at the end of fall semester in 2016. Hierarchical multiple regression results revealed attitude, subjective norm, perceived behavioral control significantly predicted intention to exercise. Three self-regulated motivations also emerged as significant predictors of intention to exercise.
The findings of this study provide empirical support for an integrated theoretical framework in the promotion of university students’ exercise behavior. Several practical implications are discussed.
