Abstract
Objectives: The career in the area of healthcare management has been diversified to meet the rapidly changing social demands and move with the times. This study aimed to analyze the factors affecting employment in the area of healthcare and students’ satisfaction with the curriculum and develop a plan for raising the employment rate among the students in the department of healthcare. Methods: For this purpose, a survey was conducted in 163 students at the departments relevant to health care in Seongnam from May 6 to 9, 2013. Results: Satisfaction with curriculum by gender was statistically insignificant, whereas the higher grade, the lower satisfaction with curriculum. Statistically significant differences were found in the plan to acquire a license by gender and grade: the students who were female and who were at a lower grade were more likely to draw up a plan to acquire a major-related license. Gender, grade and willingness of employment to the health care field significantly affected the acquisition of a major-related license. Satisfaction with curriculum and the plan to acquire a major-related license statistically significantly affected willingness of employment to the health care field. Conclusions: To increase the rate of employment related to the major among the students at the departments relevant to health care, it is essential to understand students' requirements that directly and indirectly affect the acquisition of a major-related license and to reflect them in curriculum.
