Abstract
The concept of the plot has been continuously changed up to today as Aristoteles has presented its concept for the first time, and still has not been clearly defined yet in a form of single explicit concept. However, one of the most differentiated factor in plot is developments of affair by cause and effect relationship, and secondly implementation of subject, and lastly formation of novel's beauty of art. This is one of the most important factor in novel, and whether plot is good or not has correlation to evaluate whether the novel is good or not. Anti-Plot novel, which is primarily to destroy the story of today's modern novel, but this can not denly that it has thought-provoking in even such novel. With respect to the concept of such plot, there has been argument between Tanizaki Jynichiro and Akutagawa Ryunosuke who were two greatest literary men in Japan since 1927. Tanizaki Jynichiro emphasized its interest and importance on Plot while Akutagawa Ryunosuke insisted novel without Plot is most artistic novel and pure art. The argument between theses two persons was ended in smoke, without winner due to Akutagawa Ryunosuke's suicide. However, the argument has become important moment for those who study literature since then. For this thesis, the concept of plot presented since Aristoteles era is to be examined, and plot arguments in Akutagawa Ryunosuke and Tanizaki Jynichiro will be discussed after. And finally, difference between novel with emphasis on Plot by Tanizaki Jynichiro and novel without emphasis on Plot by Akutagawa Ryunosuke will be examined.
