Abstract
The growing interest in welfare and rights protection for the disabled has highlighted the importance of policy tasks targeting the disabled. Statistics explain complex social phenomena in objective figures and are very important information for government policy decisions. The purpose of the study is to find out the current status of the national statistical surveys on the participation of physical activities and the factors related to chronic diseases of persons with disabilities, and to present basic data to establish future sports policies for persons with disabilities. A technical analysis method was conducted through content analysis and literature survey on the statistical data of state approval concerning research subjects. The results of the relevant national approval statistics for the disabled sports policy are as follows. First, the National Statistical Survey should be used to provide the basis for presenting the recommended frequency, time, and intensity of exercise for persons with disabilities. Second, collaboration with medical and statistical investigation experts, such as medical, health statistics, and statistics, should ensure the objectivity of future research on the effects of physical activity and exercise for persons with disabilities. Third, the research institute should consider conditional disclosure of raw data for active research. Fourth, it is necessary to redefine physical activities and exercise in the survey statistics and revise the questions. Fifth, the legal basis for the generation of statistics related to the sports policy for the handicapped should be secured.
