Abstract
The goal of this study is to secure the technology to carry out international standardsbased measurements, testing, and verification of survey meters and radiation safety managementequipment for safe management of radiation. Based on IEC 60846-1, the international standardfor evaluating the performance of radiation devices, we derived radiation performancerequirements and test methods for dose dependability, energy dependance, direction dependency,linearity, accuracy, overload, reaction time, and alarm. Performance evaluation was conductedusing the test methods that were derived by using gamma and x-ray reference survey devicesbased on international standards. Based on this, we first secured the technology level andperformance criterion for the commercialized domestic survey meter, then we verified whetherthe survey meter conforms to the standard requirement by evaluating it with the test method andperformance standard stipulated in the international standard. We were able to verify that theperformance condition proposed by the manufacturer was more narrowly specified compared tothe IEC performance condition. In general, an empirical evaluation of the technical specificationsrecommended by the manufacturer and the test items specified by IEC confirmed that they weresatisfied within the reference conditions. It is expected that the result of this research on theintroduction of a radiation equipment evaluation system suitable for these international standardswill secure the technology to carry out international standards based measurements, testing, andverification of radiation protection measurement equipment for radiation safety management.
