- Abstract
- Objectives Seborrheic dermatitis is a chronic superficial eczematous dermatitis characterized by the redness and dry or greasy squama. This case study was designed to assess the effect of Shi Wei Ba Du-San gamibang (Jeongan-tang) for seborrheic dermatitis by retrospective methods.
Methods From June 1, 2016 to January 31, 2020, 5 patients with seborrheic dermatitis were treated with Jeongan-tang for 3 months at Oriental Medicine Clinic. We analyzed information and body conditions of 5 patients. Redness, squama, and skin discomfort such as itching were assessed in 5 patients by using VAS (Visual Analogue Scale) score.
We evaluated the symptom change by photographs and VAS score before and after the treatment.
Results At first, the frequency of flushing and redness was decreased. Secondly, the scaly skin was change to normal state and itching sensation was lessened. After the treatment, the total VAS score was decreased.
Conclusions Jeongan-tang can be effective in seborrheic dermatitis, and it also can be helpful to regenerate the skin condition as well.
