Abstract
This study is to show that the pattern of terms of address between native Korean speakers and non-native Korean speakers is investigated and compared. To this end, a questionnaire tool was developed based on the analysis of Korean textbooks, and a frequency analysis was conducted by collecting questionnaires from a total of 224 people. The results are summarized as follows. First, there was a difference in the pattern of terms of address according to age in public scenes with intimacy. When the counterpart is older, the native Korean speaker used kinship term of address and `name+nim', while non-native Korean speakers used `name+ssi'. Non-native Korean speakers perceived `name+ssi' as a familiar and formal term of address. Second, there was a difference in the terms of address used by the two groups for their bosses in the intimate private scene. Korean native speakers used `title+nim', and non-native Korean speakers used `last name+title(+nim)'. As mentioned above, It was found that when there is intimacy, it is difficult to judge the subjective distance from the other party because the participant variable acts in a complex way with other factors such as age or position.
