- Abstract
- The purpose of this study was to identify the job environment and job stress of part-time physical education instructors in Korea. For the purpose of this study, in-depth interviews were conducted with the total of 7 people, including 5 current part-time physical education instructors and 2 experienced handball players.
The results are as follows. First, the subjects indicated that the salary was not compensated and the average salary of part-time physical education instructors was found to be very low. Second, the instructors were stressed out due to the employment insecurity and confliction with managers. Third, the participants also indicated that the coaching was very hard because the schools always focused on the hard training and too much competitions rather than sports philosophy for the young athletes. Finally, they concluded that the instructors needed to be treated better systematically in terms of salary, coaching positions and conditions and also they asked for the positive aspects for the future elite handball athletes.
