Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the multicultural students’ school bullying prevention and countermeasures. For the purpose of this study, five elementary school teachers were recruited in Seoul and GyeongGi-Do and in-depth interviews were conducted with them. The results were categorized with following two components based on the interviews; 1) the causes of school bullying, and 2) the methods of school bullying prevention and countermeasures. First, cultural differences were found to be a main cause of school bullying against multicultural students therefore the understating of different cultures was important to prevent it. Second, the participants strongly recommended the needs of the regular seminars of school bullying prevention and cultural understandings of others, and parents related prevention programs as well as multicultural experience programs in order to prevent school bullying for multicultural students and the school bullying prevention and countermeasures. The developing textbooks for school bullying prevention using various languages and establishing post progressing to decrease school bullying for other people were also indicated.
