Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of participation in combined interval training program on cardiorespiratory fitness and fasting glucose among male university students. A total of 41 male university students participated in eight week-combined interval training program were included in the study. We measured body composition, cardiorespiratory fitness (VO2max), and fasting glucose. Results showed that cardiorespiratory fitness level (Pre: 53.42±4.52ml/kg/min, Post: 55.67±4.97 l/kg/min, p<.001) was significantly increased after exercise intervention. Fasting glucose level (Pre: 75.41± 6.30mg/ dl, Post: 65.24±9.43mg/dl, p<.001) significantly decreased after exercise intervention. In conclusion, this study proved that participating in eight week-combined interval training program reduces fasting glucose and also improves cardiorespiratory fitness level.
