- Abstract
- This study aims to examine the participation motivation of the members in middle school and high school Taekwondo demonstration team and its following effects on physical self-efficacy and school life satisfaction to closely analyze the relationship betweeen them. For the data, 273 members of 4 middle school and high school demonstration teams and 6 Taekwondo gyms were randomly sampled from the full population of middle and high school Taekwondo demonstration teams and Taekwondo gym demonstration teams in GyeongGi-Do region. Exploratory factor analysis, calculation of reliability coefficient(Cronbach’s α), descriptive statistics, correlation analysis and stepwise multiple regression were conducted by using the statistics package SPSS 18.0 for the collected data. The conclusions of this study obtained through the data analysis following the above methods and procedure are as follows. First, internal motivation, which is a sub-factor of participation motivation of middle and high school Taekwondo demonstration team members, had positive impacts on self-esteem for physical self- representation and recognized physical ability, whereas external motivation had negative impacts on self-esteem for physical self-representation and recognized physical ability. Second, internal motivation, which is a sub-factor of participation motivation of middle and high school Taekwondo demonstration team members, had stastically significant positive impacts on relationship with friends, relationship with teachers, learning activities, school events and rule compliance, which are sub-factors of school life satisfaction, whereas external motivation had statistically significant positive impacts on relationship with friends and negative impacts on relationship with teachers and learning activities. Third, physical self-efficacy of middle and high school Taekwondo demonstration tema members had statistically significant positve impacts on 5 sub-factors of school life satisfaction.
