Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of regular combined exercise on the body composition, physical fitness, blood variables of lipid metabolism and BDNF levels. We recruited adolescents between the ages of 11~13 who have body fat percentage of over 25%. Participants were classified into the group which performed combined exercise and control group. The combined exercise was composed of riding the cycle with an medium intensity followed by an elastic band exercise for three times a week for 12 weeks. All participants were tested for body composition, physical fitness, and blood composition before and after the exercises. As a result, combined exercise reduced body weight and body fat significantly. Moreover, combined exercise improved aerobic fitness and muscular strength, muscular endurance and flexibility. Combined exercise reduced the secretion of FFA and TG and increased the secretion of GH and BDNF significantly. In conclusion, combined exercise has an affirmative influence on the body composition and physical fitness of obese children and was effective for the of lipid metabolism within the blood and the creation of brain cells
