- Abstract
- The purpose of this study is to empirically demonstrate the impact of perceived medical staff's expertise and interaction on the patient compliance through trust. The direct effect of medical staff's expertise and interaction, as well as the indirect effect of those factors through patient's trust, were examined using the patient compliance as the outcome variable. The results showed that medical staff's expertise had a direct effect on compliance and also, an indirect effect mediated by trust. On the other hand, interaction had a direct effect on compliance, although an indirect effect through the mediation of trust was not statistically significant. Based on the above, this study has a theoretical significance in that it comprehensively elucidated the causal relationship of expertise, interaction and trust with compliance. This study also exhibits a practical implication in that it has provided the basis for marketing strategies intended to enhance patients' trust and improve patient compliance.
