- Abstract
- In many countries’ railway systems, the European Railway Traffic Management System/European Train Control System (ERTMS/ETCS) is used to detect the exact location of a train on a running train.
ETCS uses balises to transmit position information to trains. The Balise Transmission Module (BTM) is a device that receives telegram information from balises mounted on rail sleepers. In this study, we propose a more efficient and economical implementation of the BTM antenna by improving the existing FPGA design. The results confirmed that there was no difficulty in installing the BTM antenna on a diesel locomotive running at low speeds and on the HEMU-430X running at high speeds.
