Abstract
The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between plant arrangement patterns and pedestrian movement in large complex commercial space. The importance of indoor landscaping is also increasing along with the development of large complex commercial spaces, a place of communication that realizes the diverse needs of modern consumers. Hanam Starfield was selected as a case study and the relationship between plant arrangement pattern and pedestrian movement were studied using spatial syntax theory. The study finds the followings as the results. First, the plant arrangement pattern of Hanam Starfield is divided into single, line-up, centralized, and clustered. Second, there are about 40 plants in a total of 12 sections, and the frequency is in a line-up, clustered, single, and centralized order. Third, analysis using Depth map based on spatial syntax shows that placing plants increases the distribution of line of sight and increases connectivity. In particular, the difference is evident when deployed in a clustered. This study investigates the relationship between plant arrangement patterns and pedestrian movement in large complex commercial space and can be applied to design processes.
