- Abstract
- The main purpose of this study is to evaluate the primary energy saving potential of a liquid desiccant system integrated with an organic Rankine cycle (ORCLD). Based on the previous studies, the experimental apparatus of ORCLD was designed and built. The district heat source of 120°C and Novec649 were utilized as the heat source and the working fluid of ORC. When the maximum power output was achieved based on these conditions, the outlet temperature of the cooling water recovering waste heat from the condenser of ORC was approximately 47°C. The same temperature of water supplied to regenerator was applied to the reference system, which is the LD served by gas fired boiler and existing grid power. As a result, the proposed system could save the 25% of primary energy compared with the reference system. Consequently, the proposed system provides both primary energy savings remaining some of power and heat, which can be used in buildings.
