Abstract
Although Korean government tried to enact the law about mandatory pre-heat coil installation in Energy Recovery Ventilator(ERV), the plan was withdrawn due to the concern about excessive energy consumption. Therefore, the other alternative concerning real-time climate difference and effectiveness difference about the pre-heater regulation has been required to prevent the condensation problem. This study suggests a real-time control criterion applying the frost threshold temperature. With the new control measure, not only the energy consumption of pre-heat coil decreased by 61% from the previous suggested method, but also 31% less coil capacity was needed for operation in order to preclude the condensation problem.
