- Abstract
- In the past, Universal design has been limited to facilities dedicated to serve people with special needs like disable people. Currently, universal design has become one of the big issues in the every field. It has been actively accomplished in various fields as not only housing and public space, but also product design and architecture. With a strong commitment to improve facilities for airport-users, Now airport designers should not consider universal design as an “add-on”. More and more features have been incorporated as a standard provision in airport planning and set the standard for future airport development. Because the airports are built for everyone and used by a wide variety of people such as overseas visitors, the elderly, children…etc, the facilities must be designed in a way that is easy to understand and use for everyone. By putting human diversity into context, Universal Design creates an environment that is easier for all people to use and focus on what needs to be addressed in order to make an airport fully accessible.
