전문대 졸업자와 4년제 대학졸업자 간 졸업 후 첫 직장에서의 임금격차의 변화에 대한 연구

Abstract

이 연구에서는 2008년부터 2015년 사이에 4년제 대학과 전문대학을 졸업한 사람의 학력 간 임금격차의 추세와 요인을 추적한다. 대졸자직업이동경로조사의 졸업 후 첫 직장의 임금 자료를 이용하였고, 졸업연도별 코호트 내 및 코호트 간 임금격차를 분석하였다. 평균 임금격차의 분석을 위해서는 Oaxaca-Blinder 분해, 임금분포 분위별 격차의 분석을 위해서는 re-centered influence function (RIF) 회귀식의 분해를 하였는데 분해식은 코호트 내 및 코호트 간 분해가 가능하도록 변환하였다. 주요결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 코호트 내 학력 간 평균 및 분위별 임금격차는 최근 코호트로 올수록 감소하였다. 둘째, 학력 집단 간 평균특성 차이에 의한 임금격차는 거의 변하지 않았으며, 평균 임금격차와 중하위분위에서의 임금격차가 감소한 것은 주로 전문대 졸업자가 최근의 코호트로 올수록 더 높은 보상을 받게 된 것에 기인한다. 셋째, 학력 간 임금격차의 감소는 시기적으로 임금분포의 저분위에서부터 시작하여 중분위와 고분위로 확대되었다. 「경제활동인구조사」 자료를 이용하여 분석한 평균 임금격차의 분해 결과도 유사하다.

I study the trend of and explanations for intra- and inter-cohort wage differences between vocational college graduates and four-year university graduates who have finished their tertiary education from 2008 to 2015. I use the data on wages in their first job after graduation from the Graduates Occupational Mobility Survey. I use Oaxaca-Blinder decomposition method to examine the average wage differences and the re-centered influence function decomposition method to examine the wage differences at various quantiles over wage distribution. The decomposition formulae I use allow both intra- and inter-cohort comparisons. I find the following. First, the intra-cohort educational wage differences between the averages and between most quantiles have diminished over the years. Second, the wage differences explained by differences in the average observable characteristics of the workers have not varied much. The diminishing wage differences between the averages and between low to middle quantiles are mainly due to rising price for given characteristics of vocational college graduates. Third, educational wage differences have diminished at lower quantiles before they have at higher quantiles. I also get the similar decomposition results of average wage differences using the Labor Force Survey data.
