- Abstract
- Pre-revolutionary Russian historiography of the Caucasian War is represented, first of all, by works, which had a pronounced imperial character. In the Soviet historiography of the Caucasian War, Shamil himself and the activity of Muridism were sometimes assessed from diametrically opposite positions. In the vast majority of works in the 1990s, affirms the idea of a national liberation movement of the mountaineers with a noticeable weakening of attention to class, anti-feudal moments and the gradual withdrawal of the concept of the apparatus such as the reactionary shell of muridism.
