- Abstract
- WUF-W moment connection is a pre-qualified all-welded connection for the special moment frame (SMF) specified in AISC 358-16. According to previous studies, the configuration of the access hole significantly affects the cyclic behavior of WUF-W connections. However, access holes are often neglected in structural analysis. The objective of this study is to compare the cyclic behavior of WUF-W connections with and without access holes using finite element analysis. It is observed that the effect of access hole on the cyclic behavior of WUF-W connections is significant and can not be neglected in analyses.
