- Abstract
- The purpose of this paper is to analyze the dehumidification performance of a packed bed counter-flow type liquid desiccant (LD) system with the change of desiccant solution temperature when operating this type of absorber unit. In this study, lithium chloride (LiCl) aqueous solution was used as a desiccant solution for its higher dehumidification efficiency and lower vapor pressure. The dehumidification experiments were conducted as an inlet desiccant solution temperature varied from 15℃ to 30℃, and inlet air conditions are set through a test chamber based on the average outdoor air conditions in summer. The moisture removal rate and dehumidification efficiency were calculated to analyze the effect of inlet desiccant solution temperature on the performance of the proposed liquid desiccant system. The results show that the dehumidification performance of this type of absorber is highest when the solution inlet temperature is 15℃, and sharply decreases when the solution temperature reaches 30℃. To find the optimal solution inlet temperature, however, further studies considering energy consumptions are required because cooling the solution to a lower temperature results in higher energy consumption.
