- Abstract
- In ancient tomb murals of the Korean Peninsula, the idea of Four-Direction Guardians begin to be prominent after the middle of the 5th century. Along with the aboriginal mountain worship culture, this idea was based on the distinctive ancient urban defense system with which several mountain fortresses protect the capital city. Through the idea, this study examines the relationship between ancient capital cities and surrounding fortresses.
