Abstract
According to ASCE 7-10, the torsional irregular structure is defined as a structure in which torsional response occurs due to the eccentricity, which is the difference between the center of stiffness and the center of mass. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the structure with torsional irregularity according to current code criteria. For this purpose, 3-story building with different eccentricity are designed according to ASCE 7-10. The probability of collapse of torsional irregular structure was estimated according to FEMA P-695. It is shown that torsional irregular structures designed according to current seismic design criteria have collapse probabilities less than 20%. Particularly, some model torsional irregular structures have smaller collapse probability than that of regular structures.
