Abstract
This paper proposes an image stitching algorithm using adaptive dynamic programming. The adaptive energy function in the dynamic programming is proposed to conserve the image structure in stitching images. According to the proposed energy function, the stitched image boundaries are determined along the homogeneous image structures. Thus the resolution or clarity in the stitched images are not degraded by the image blending, which is the usual problem in the image stitching and blending. The proposed stitching algorithm is especially effective when the stitched images have remarkable structures such as document images, artworks, and geometric shapes.
