낚시문화의 시대별 여건변화와 여가적 특성에 관한 고찰

Abstract

This study has examined the changes of fishing culture in Korea by employing a period division as follows: formative period(prior to 1960), setting period(1961-1979), transition period(1980-1989), the co-existence period of diverse fishing forms(1990-1999). and the period of an amalgamation between fishing and tourism(2000-present). As a result, this research found that the Korean fishing culture was characterized by a male-dominating and time-consuming leisure activity. Along with these, there was another characteristic in fishing in Korea which was a leisure sport highly susceptible to environment pollution problem throughout all periods. It seems likely that these combined factors provided the underlying cause of why Korean fishing did not create a new paradigm. In view of this, the fusion of fishing and tourism which began to invigorate from the decade of 2000 is important. It is high time for Korean fishing to transform itself into a family and experience-oriented leisure activity for the purpose of expanding the base through the close ties to tourism.
