Abstract
The energy recovery ventilator exchanges the heat between exhaust air and outdoor air. Therefore occupants get not only fresh air, but also energy benefit the heating/cooling load. However, when exchanging the energy in the winter season, condensation or frost could occur the outdoor air side or exhaust air side in energy exchanger. These problems harmful to occupants health, and damage the energy exchanger. The preheat coil, which is installed at the outside of energy exchanger, could prevent the condensation, so energy exchanger could be maintained the effectiveness of heat exchange. In this study, we determine the condensation cause of occurrence, the frost threshold temperature of an energy recovery ventilator, and preheat coil capacity to prevent the condensation.
