Abstract
The purpose of this study was to compare the annual energy consumptions of dedicated outdoor air system (DOAS) in the above ground and the underwater buildings. The normal building above the ground is located in Ulsan, South Korea whereas the underwater building is located at 20m below mean sea level in Ulsan. The sensible and latent loads of the each model building are calculated by using TRNSYS 17 program. In the case of an underwater building, because materials of building and component of DOAS are different from the normal building, the result showed that the thermal load of the underwater office building showed relatively low and constant annual heating and cooling loads compared with that of normal building. Based on thermal loads, the performance of DOAS is calculated through a commercial engineering equation solver (EES). As a result, the DOAS applied in the underwater building showed 52% energy conservation effect than DOAS applied in the normal building.
