- Abstract
- This paper proposes a new design optimization method for improving the driving performance of a magnetic actuator using the hybrid analysis method. To reduce the number of the finite elements and the computational time, a hybrid analysis technique, which incorporates the efficiency of the equivalent circuit method and the accuracy of the finite element method, is introduced. The finite elements are created only in the design domain and the magnetic potential, which can be calculated by the lumped parameters in the magnetic circuit, acts as the boundary condition to construct the coupling analysis domain. The optimal design of the magnetic actuator is obtained by the level set function distribution and the topological sensitivity in the finite element domain. A simple design example for maximizing the magnetic force of the actuator will be provided to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method.
