텍스트마이닝 기법과 키워드 트워크 분석을 활용한 국토토시계획 분야 연구동향 분석: 한국의 국토 계획과 미국의 JAPA를 중심으로(1998~2014)

Abstract

The study examines the research trend of urban planning in Korea and the U.S. by comparing the Journal of the Korea Planners Association(JKPA) and the Journal of the American Planning Association(JAPA) that are representative academic journals in urban planning. Research methods include text-mining technique and keyword network analysis to analyze the research trends of urban planning journal articles from 1998 to 2014. Although this study did not identify consistent and systematic relationship between two primary journals from Korea and U.S., the analysis results indicate that research trends from the keyword network analysis have been associated each other over time. More specific findings are as follows. First, this study identified that the most frequent keywords are land use, urban regeneration, and housing in JKPA and growth management, smart growth, and affordable housing in JAPA. This indicates that the journal reflected each country's different situations with regard to urban planning. Second, some topics such as public participation and urban regeneration between two journals have assiciations with time differences. Third, the recent research topics are more diversified in JAPA than in JKPA. Finally, this research indicates that text-mining and keyword network analysis would be useful for urban scholars and policy makers to consider forthcoming research trens in urban planning and public policies.
