- Abstract
- In this paper, an ultra-wideband (UWB) multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) antenna for on-body application is proposed. The proposed MIMO antenna is composed of a UWB antenna above the ground plane and an additional meander line isolator located between the two antennas to improve the isolation characteristic. Simulation and measurement were performed to analyze the effect of the human body on the antenna performance when a body is located in the near field of the antenna. The proposed folded UWB MIMO antenna has dimensions of 40 3 32 3 0.8 mm(3). The fabricated antenna has a 10-dB return loss bandwidth over the UWB lower band from 3.1 to 4.8 GHz and an isolation characteristic higher than 20 dB over the required band.
