Abstract
The most important thing facing Cuba after the 1959 revolution was toestablish, based on the process of the revolution, Cuba as an independentnation, which was more significant than anything else for Cuba, a nationdominated by Spain and the United States for a long time. For this, therevolutionary government of Cuba aimed to imprint its identity and realityon its peoples by bring them to a recollection of its revolution and itscolonial history. The vehicle that was to carry out the aims of therevolutionary government was cinema. Cinema became what was to realizethe political aims of the revolutionary government. The filmmaking of the1950s in Cuba already proved this role of cinema. In this regard, the Cubancinema of the 1960s was deeply related to what the revolution governmentaimed and was situated. During this period, Cuban films focused onshowing Cuba’s struggles for the revolution and its colonial experiences. It is not overwhelming that after the revolution what Cuban cinema dealtwith was absolutely related to the establishment of Cuba’s history as an independent nation.
