- Abstract
- A study was conducted to demonstrate aerodynamic characteristics of a rectangular wing in ground proximity. It was demonstrated that the aerodynamic characteristics of wings in the vicinity of the surface were dependent on two significant effects, such as the ground effect and the Venturi effect. The high pressure of the ground effect strengthened the wing-tip vortex but the influence of the vortex was diminished. The high drag due to the Venturi effect was observed in two-dimensional analysis and the primary factor causing an increase in drag was the drag due to the lift. The flow of the Venturi effect on the upper surface was sucked into the lower surface at the tip, but the flow of the ground effect was pushed away by the side flow.
