미술 교사의 다문화 감수성 개발을 위한 교사교육의 실천적 방안 탐색

Abstract

한국 사회에서의 다문화교육이 외국인의 증가라는 사회적 현상에 대한 반응으로 시작하였더라도, 문화적 다양성이라는 측면에서 현재 학교 교육에 대한 보다 근본적이고 비판적인 성찰을 가능하도록 한다는 점에 그 의의가 있을 것이다. 이러한 관점에서 본 연구는 보다 적극적인 다문화 미술교육을 위한 교사 교육이 필요하다는 문제의식에서 출발하였다. 이에 미술교사에게 요구되는 역량의 하나로 다문화 감수성의 의미에 대하여 고찰하고 이를 개발하기 위한 방안을 모색하는 데에 연구의 목적을 두었다. 먼저 다원주의 시대에 학교 교육 안에서 학습자의 감정, 정서, 인지적 특성을 존중하고 개발할 수 있는 역할을 수행하는 미술교육의 가치에 주목하여, 문화 다양성 교육을 위한 미술교육의 의미와 가치를 고찰하였다. 이를 토대로미술교사의 다문화적 역량을 개념화하고 이를 교사교육과정에서 실천하기 위한 실제적인 내용과 방법을 제안하였다.

Although mulitucultural education in Korean society has started in reaction tothe rapid increase of foreign workers and international marriages, it generates morefundamental and critical reflection upon the current situation of schooling from theperspective of cultural diversity. In this respect, this study aims at shedding lighton the significance of teacher education that would result in practicing morerigorous multicultural art education. The purpose of this study is to examine themeanings and concepts of developing art teachers’ multicultural sensitivity thatwould lead to teacher competency of culturally responsive teaching and equitypedagogy. First, the role of art education in multicultural education is discussed inassociation with its potential to provide a safe environment, in which students’differences, strengths, and cultural backgrounds are respected and recognized inschool. Then the essential factors and contents of mulitucltural art teachereducation are investigated in the context of multicultural sensitivity. Thesignificance of this study can be found in the sense that it attempts to fill the gapin the art educational research on multicultural education and to extend thediscourse of art teacher education
