Abstract
This paper proposes a method of stress constrained design optimization using multi-phase level-set model to reduce weight of structure by using multiple materials such as steel and aluminum. Since stress is affected sensitively by boundary shape, the level set method is employed to express clear boundary and the concept of phase field model is incorporated to control the complexity of the structural boundary. The optimization problem is formulated to minimize the compliance under the volume and stress constraints of each phase (steel, aluminum and air). In order to measure the stress of structure, the global stress measure such as p-norm approach is used to reduce the computational cost and perform sensitivity analysis. Finally, several numerical examples are shown to verify the usefulness of the proposed method.
