- Abstract
- This study presents on simulation of aerodynamic noise generation from a simplified model of the high-speed train. The numerical simulations based on the Lattice-Boltzmann method were performed for the simplified train model. The noise originated from train nose, pantograph, and inter-coach spacing was computed, and parameters influencing the radiation characteristics were investigated. The simulation results were partially verified using the measured results from the wind tunnel tests and for the actual operating trains. The important aerodynamic noise was generated as several tonal components from wake region which was caused by a sudden curve of a train nose, vortex shedding from the pantograph, and the flow feedback in the inter-coach spacing. The result can be utilized to build its mechanism to reduce the aerodynamic noise from actual high-speed train.
