- Abstract
- In this article, a new small chip antenna for Wi-Fi applications in mobile handsets is proposed. To achieve miniaturization, the proposed antenna is designed to have a backside ground. The proposed antenna has an S-shaped structure, which is designed on liquid crystal polymer with er = 3.5. The size of the proposed antenna is 6.0 x 3.0 x 1.2 mm3. The measured impedance bandwidth under a voltage standing wave ratio of 2 is 300 MHz (fractional bandwidth: 12.2%, 2.32.6 GHz), and the peak gain is 1.42 dBi. The proposed antenna is designed using a commercial software tool, CST Microwave Studio, and the fabricated antenna is measured using a network analyzer and an anechoic chamber.
