다국적기업 내 지식이전과 성과에 대한 흡수역량과 동기요인의 결합적 영향에 관한 연구

Abstract

기업들이 불확실하고 급변하는 글로벌 사업환경에 대응하기 위해 필요한 모든 지식을 자체적으로 개발하는 것은 불가능하므로 경쟁력 유지를 위하여 필요한 지식을 지속적으로 외부원천에 의존하게 된다. 다국적기업들은 독특한 내부의 네트워크화 된 조직구조를 활용하여 본사와 자회사간의 지식 이전과 활용이 구조적으로는 용이하지만, 지식자체는 조직에 내포되어 있기 때문에 다국적 기업 내에서도 이전이 쉽지 않다. 본 연구에서는 지식경영과 흡수역량 이론의 관점에서 국내에 진출한 다국적회사 본사에서 제조역할을 수행하는 자회사에 이전되기 용이한 지식의 특성을 파악하고 이전된 지식과 성과와의 관계를 고찰한다. 또한 지식 이전과 성과와의 관계에 영향을 미치는 조직 변수로 흡수역량과 동기요인의 조절효과를 분석해 본다.

Firms typically seek to acquire knowledge from external sources because the effective sourcing, sharing and use of external knowledge have fundamental competitive implications. This is perhaps even more relevant for MNCs. MNC is considered to be a‘differentiated network’, where knowledge is created in various parts of the MNC, and is frequently shared and transferred across borders. Based on the perspectives of knowledge management and absorptive capability, this study empirically investigates the causal relationships between the characteristics of external knowledge and knowledge transfer, and the transfer of external knowledge and firm performance. It also examines the role of absorptive capability and absorptive motivation in terms of knowledge transfer and its effect on firm performance, with survey data collected from manufacturing subsidiaries of MNCs in Korea.
